The competitors from Islwyn High School

An English-speaking school will compete at the Urdd National Eisteddfod for the first time this year.

Pupils from Islwyn High School, in Oakdale, will compete at the Eisteddfod yr Urdd, which is taking place from May 27 to June 1 in Montgomeryshire.

The students gained their place after entering the regional Eisteddfod at Ysgol Cwm Rhymni in March.

They participated in four categories – Solo Recitation, Group Recitation, Dance and Instrumental Band – winning all of them.

The annual Urdd Eisteddfod sees more than 15,000 children and young people under the age of 25 taking part in competitions involving singing, dancing, and performing.
