A drug dealer was found by police hiding under a pile of clothes during a raid at his house.
Rhys Jones, 21, of Garden City, near Pontlottyn, was arrested on September 2 last year, with officers finding heroin with a street value value of £35,000.
Appearing at Swansea Crown Court on Wednesday April 17, Jones was jailed for four years and ten months after admitting charges of burglary, taking a vehicle without consent, two counts of fraud, and possession of a Class A drugs with intent to supply.
After his initial arrest in September Jones was released on police bail and arrested again in November. He was released again on police bail and in January this year broke into a house and stole a bank card, a car, and money.
Jones was caught on CCTV using the bank card twice at a local shop and was also seen driving the stolen car. The car has since been recovered.
The officer in the case, coincidentally also called Rhys Jones, said: “He is a significant member of a serious organised crime group and was found in possession of vast quantities of heroin.
“We know that drug supply often has links into different types of criminal behaviour and Jones went on to commit further offences – showing his complete disregard for the criminal justice system and the community that he is a part of.”
During mitigation in court, it was stated the defendant was dependent on drugs and had an upbringing surrounded by them.
Jones will serve half his sentence in prison and the remainder out on licence.
