The Caerphilly 10k is returning for 2024

The Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k and 2k races will return on Sunday May 12.

The 10k race starts and finishes on Crescent Road, with the track leading runners in and around Caerphilly town centre, passing landmarks such as the castle and the Tommy Cooper statue along the way.

Last year, the men’s race was won by Swansea’s Dewi Griffiths, who clocked a time of 30 minutes and 23 seconds.

The women’s race was won by Blackwood’s Lauren Cooper, with a time of 35 minutes and 40 seconds.

2,400 runners descend on town as annual Caerphilly 10k and 2k races return

The annual event is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council, which has announced road closures will be in place during the event.

Crescent Road will be closed from 6am to 1pm, while closures will be in place along Cardiff Road between 9am and 12pm. Additionally, the stretch of road between Bedwas Bridge roundabout and Van Road will be fully closed from 9.30am to 12pm.

Further closures include Piccadilly Square (9am to 10.15am), Pontygwindy Road (9.30am to 10.45am), and eastwards on the road between Pwllypant roundabout and Bedwas Bridge roundabout (9am to 11.30am).

However, access between Lansbury Park and Mornington Meadows will be maintained during the day, the council has confirmed.

However, parking restrictions will be in place on Van Road and Pontygwindy Road.

It is still not too late to enter the race – visit www.caerphilly10k.co.uk for more information.
