The Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are a natural phenomenon that occurs in the Earth’s upper atmosphere.

Typically visible in an oval-shaped region around the Earth’s magnetic north pole, which includes parts of Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, the lights could be seen across all of Wales last night and can be seen again tonight (Saturday).

Caerphilly Observer reader Sean Williams captured the below images from Rudry Mountain, while Andrew Evans travelled up Pen y Fan to catch the sight.
