Senghenydd RFC’s under-16 side defeated Pontypool United over the weekend to win the Dragons Cup.

The sides met at Newport’s Rodney Parade on Saturday May 18 – with Senghenydd winning 38-28.

Tries from Ryley Fussell, Devon Shorney, Morgan Marozzelli, Iuan Matthews, and a brace from William Ford sealed the win for Senghenydd, who led 28-5 at half-time.

Having lost the previous two Dragons Cup finals, it was third time lucky for Senghenydd.

The victory marks the second cup win for the club’s mini and junior section, meaning the teams will wear two stars on their shirts next season.
