The polls have now closed

After 15 hours of voting, the polls have now closed in the 2024 general election, with results expected to break throughout the night.

Caerphilly County Borough consists of three constituencies:

  • Caerphilly
  • Newport West and Islwyn
  • Blaenau Gwent and Rhymney

Results for both Caerphilly and Newport West and Islwyn are expected to be announced at around 2.30am, while residents in Blaenau Gwent and Rhymney may have to wait until 4am to hear their results.

Caerphilly Observer will have reporters at both the Caerphilly and Newport West and Islwyn counts, and will be running a live blog throughout the night, providing updates and quotes from candidates.
