Gwent Police is appealing for information

Update: Gwent Police has said it has found the car and it’s in the process of being recovered.

Police are searching for a second suspect linked to a Blackwood burglary in which a car, bank cards, and cash were stolen.

The incident happened on Ladysmith Road in the early hours of Sunday July 7.

A 42-year-old man from Blackwood has already been charged with burglary, attempted burglary, vehicle theft, and fraud by false representation.

During the alleged burglary, several items were taken from a house, including a purse containing cash and bank cards, while a car – a green Ford Fiesta Edge – was taken from outside the property.

PC Lee Gibbs, of Gwent Police, said: “First and foremost, officers acted quickly to ensure the resident was safeguarded and, in the hours that followed, we carried out a number of enquiries.

“Interviews, footwear and finger print examinations, and searching through CCTV from the area resulted in an arrest that afternoon.”

He added: “We’re now appealing for information from the public to help us identify a second person we believe may be connected to the burglary.”

PC Gibbs also appealed for any information to help find and return the car, which he said was last seen on Clarence Place, Newport, at around 3.20am on Sunday July 7.”

Anyone with information can contact Gwent Police on 101, or through direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2400225165.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
