Thousands of visitors flocked to Blackwood town centre earlier this month to enjoy its annual beach party.
The high street was packed with visitors according to event organisers Caerphilly County Borough Council, despite footfall figures being down slightly from last year’s record numbers, with 6,673 people in attendance.
Entertainment, food, drink, and craft stalls lined the streets alongside the giant urban beach featuring pirate shows.
Blackwood Town Council also had a stage where local dance and music groups performed as well as a Taylor Swift tribute act.
Local businesses had their say on the event, which was held on Saturday July 13.
Gavyn and Shirley at McKenzie’s Cafe Bar commented: “It was a very well attended event with a wide range of stalls and activities for everyone.
“It was lovely to see smiling faces, with the sun also making an appearance for a few hours. It was nice to see the local community out enjoying the beach area.”
Helena Forrest, manager of the Cancer Research Wales store, said: “The beach party over the weekend in Blackwood was a really good event and it was nice to see the town centre so busy.”
The council’s deputy leader, Cllr Jamie Pritchard, added: “It was great to see so many people attend the Blackwood Beach Party. There was a variety of activities on offer for all ages to enjoy.
“This event, like all other events, brings people to our town centres. A fantastic show, yet again.”
