The Parish Trust, in Trethomas, has been awarded £100,000 in National Lottery funding which it hopes to use to secure a new base.

The Christian-led charity has been in search of new premises since it was served an eviction notice from the Church in Wales in 2023.

The Trust is currently based in St Thomas’ Church, with plans to ‘transform’ an adjacent former OAP community centre into a “versatile and family-centric space“.

Still in search of a new headquarters however, CEO of the charity, Reverend Dean Roberts, has said this grant “changes everything” for the Trust.

He continued: “Over the past 12 months, The Parish Trust has faced numerous challenges and uncertainties regarding the future of our headquarters.

“This generous grant from the National Lottery Community Fund changes everything, giving us the hope and security we’ve been longing for.

“With this funding, we can begin the process of relocating our headquarters to a new site. We are excited to share that we have a very good idea of where we’re going, and we’re in the advanced stages of a legal process to acquire this new site for The Parish Trust’s headquarters.

“We hope to make a formal announcement very soon. The move will enable us to expand our services and reach a wider area, helping more people in need.”
