Votes will be cast in the Aberbargoed and Bargoed ward on August 15

Voters in the Aberbargoed and Bargoed ward will vote to decide who will be their new county borough councillor tomorrow, Thursday August 15.

The by-election follows the death of Labour ward councillor Dianne Price, who passed away in April having represented the area for 20 years.

Who is standing in the county borough council by-election?

Polls open at 7am and close at 10pm.

As well as electing a new representative to serve on Caerphilly County Borough Council, voters will also decide who will fill the two vacancies on Bargoed Town Council.

What exactly are community and town councils and what do they do?

The candidates standing in the town council by-election are:

  • Christine Bissex-Foster (Welsh Labour)
  • Paul Davies (Independent)
  • Gill Jones ( Plaid Cymru)
  • Joshua McCarthy (Plaid Cymru)
  • Michael Roberts (Welsh Labour)
