From humble beginnings at a “tiny” room in a gym, Hair Craze is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
Naomi Rowe has been at her popular base on Piccadilly Square in Caerphilly for more than seven years now, and believes she is at a point where her brand and reputation has secured the business’ future.
However, it hasn’t always been easy for Naomi, who spoke to Caerphilly Observer about the highs and lows over the past decade
She explained: “There were just two of us when I first started out after a career of teaching and training in college.
“It was a huge gamble to move from a tiny room in a gym to the high street, but we would have just fizzled out I think.
“Over seven years later and it’s the best decision we’ve ever made. We have a regular clientele and people love stopping-by whenever they get the chance.”
There have been challenges for the salon. Road works outside the business for an extended period cost them, combined with the pandemic and rising business rates.
Naomi continued: “I’m proud to say we’ve made it to ten years. It has been far from easy, but I’m fortunate to have amazing staff and wonderful customers who make it worth while.”

Well-known for its vegan and Italian products, Naomi puts an emphasis on training salon staff to the highest level, which even includes flying them out to Italy to see where it all begins.
“We’re one of the only businesses around to offer internal training, and I’m happy to announce we’ll soon be turning upstairs into a training academy for other people to use too.
“Understanding the product is crucial to me, and is one of the reasons I believe we are so successful.”
To celebrate, the salon will be hosting a “chill day” with cake and balloons on Saturday August 31, before a meal in Caerphilly later that evening.
