The Caerphilly Cheese Festival is coming to town this weekend, bringing food and craft stalls, entertainment, and more.

The event is on Saturday August 31 and Sunday September 1, and is being held in place of the Big Cheese festival.

The Big Cheese has not been held since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and more recently, ongoing works at Caerphilly Castle. In its place has been the Little Cheese Festival, held at the Twyn car park in recent years.

However, this year’s event will take place on the grassed area behind the castle, while a food court and drinking area is set up at the Twyn car park.

Meanwhile, town centre pubs and restaurants will be setting up outdoor drinking areas during the festival, which is being organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council.

As part of this year’s event, several music areas will be set up, with a central stage at the Twyn car park with headline acts including Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band and Slipped Disco.

There will also be a funfair, food halls, a picnic area and a host of stalls in town.
