Cardiff Road is among the roads closed during this year’s Caerphilly Cheese Festival

The Caerphilly Cheese Festival is coming to town this weekend, bringing food and craft stalls, entertainment, and more.

The event is on Saturday August 31 and Sunday September 1, and is being held in place of the Big Cheese festival.

However, there will be road closures in place during the festival, event organiser Caerphilly County Borough Council has confirmed.

From 9pm on Friday August 30, Cardiff Road, Twyn Road, Lon y Twyn Road, and Castle Street (northbound only) will be closed.

These roads will not reopen until 9pm on Sunday September 1.

During this period, the one-way system on St Fagan’s Street will be removed between its junctions with Cardiff Road and Bradford Street. Vehicles will have to take a left turn when driving from St Fagan’s Street to Bradford Street.

Meanwhile, there will be controls on vehicles on Pentrebane Street and St Fagan’s Street to include businesses on both streets as part of the event site.

Elsewhere, the Twyn car park will close at 4pm on Friday, and is set to reopen at 9pm on Sunday.
