The area in yellow is where the farm owner wants to build two holiday cabins

A farm owner in Deri is planning to build two holiday cabins on his land as part of a diversification project.

Applicant David Rogers plans to market the accommodation, at Troedyrhiw Jestyn Farm, to “people who enjoy the countryside, for relaxing, watching wildlife, photography, walking and cycling”.

A planning statement submitted to Caerphilly County Borough Council states the current owners of the 93-acre farm want to wind down “intensive” operations in favour of those “with lower negative impact on the environment”.

Other activities at the farm include livery services for horse owners.

The two proposed cabins will be “small scale” comprising a living area, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

A bank of trees will offer guests privacy and “screen them from usual farm activities”, according to the planning documents.

The project will also include arrangements for pedestrian and vehicle access, car parking, bike storage and waste disposal.

The application is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 24/0598/FULL.
