Police appeal following crash which left 39-year-old cyclist with “serious injuries”

The 39-year-old cyclist remains in hospital

Police are appealing for information after a crash in Bedwas involving a car and a pushbike left a 39-year-old man in hospital with serious injuries.

The crash on Newport Road, Bedwas, was reported to Gwent Police at around 9.15am on Wednesday September 11, where a stretch of road was closed for more than ten hours.

Officers attended, along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service, with the crash involving a grey Audi Quattro and a pushbike.

The 39-year-old cyclist remains in hospital with “serious injuries”, according to the force.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or any motorists with dashcam footage that were near to the junction with Newport Road between 9am and 9.20am should contact the police.
