More than 3,500 people attended Risca Food FEASTival

More than 3,500 people visited Risca as the town held its first-ever Food FEASTival event earlier this month.

The festival, held in Tredegar Park, took place on Saturday September 14 – with an array of tasty treats, cookery demonstrations, funfair rides and more.

Many traders had sold out by midday and lots of local businesses were also well supported, organisers Caerphilly County Borough Council said.

A number of the traders praised the event.

Rudry-based business Aga Farm said: “What a fantastic day, and what a lovely venue. It felt so well organised and I loved the layout. The atmosphere was great.”

Risca’s Snug Coffee Shop said: “What a gorgeous day. Seeing that many people enjoy the space was great.

“All the available space to sit was great and the children’s craft and cooking area was genius. There was something to see wherever you looked, and we had record sales. A huge thanks to the events team.”

Council’s events lineup for 2025 revealed as Pride Caerffili and Bargoed Music Festival return

Meanwhile, a representative from the town’s Monmouthshire Building Society branch said: “We were happy to be involved and we thought it was a good day for the community.

“It was a really good turn out and it was nice to see the community come together and enjoy the variety of stalls.”

Council deputy leader Jamie Pritchard, who is also the cabinet member for prosperity and regeneration, highlighted the “very positive and encouraging” feedback received following the event.

Cllr Pritchard said: “It was a very successful day in Risca, with thousands of people coming to the town. Thank you to all visitors and businesses for supporting the event.”
