First Minister Eluned Morgan

First Minister Eluned Morgan is set to meet with multinational businesses and investors at the International Investment Summit in London on Monday October 14.

The summit will gather more than 300 industry leaders to discuss investment opportunities across the UK’s nations and regions.

Wales is home to 1,480 foreign-owned companies that employ nearly 175,000 people. There has been significant growth seen in sectors such as cyber security, marine energy, next-generation manufacturing, and life sciences.

Ahead of the summit, Ms Morgan said: “Inward investment plays a critical role in Wales’ economy and supports my government’s ambitions for growth.

“The impact overseas investment has on our economy is profound, generating higher wages, better productivity, and greater investment in research and development.”

Recent weeks have seen a number of major overseas investments in Wales. Turkish conglomerate Eren Holdings announced a £1 billion investment that will secure 300 jobs on Deeside, supported by both the UK and Welsh Governments.

Additionally, American multinational Kellanova, the parent company of Kellogg’s, revealed a £75 million investment that will create 130 new jobs in Wrexham.
