Blackwood RFC, Caerphilly, Fleur de Lys, Deri, and New Tredegar all remain top of their respective leagues after the weekend’s action

There was a clean sweep for Caerphilly County Borough’s sides in the National Premiership on Saturday October 19, with all three sides winning.

Bargoed climb the table to fourth after edging Merthyr 39-35 away from home.

Cross Keys meanwhile are up to sixth after a solid 34-17 win over Newcastle Emlyn at Pandy Park, while Newbridge are one place behind after beating Narberth 36-30 on the road.

Down in the National Championship East, Penallta rise to second after a comfortable 28-5 win at Aberdare, while Bedwas remain fourth after defeating Glamorgan Wanderers 37-31 at the Bridgefield.

However, it was a disappointing weekend for Ynysddu, who fell to a 37-17 loss away to Talywain.

There was success for the Caerphilly sides in Division 1 East, with wins for Nelson and Senghenydd.

Nelson move up to fourth after a 26-9 home victory over Pontypool United, while Senghenydd saw off Dowlais 25-17.

Meanwhile, Blackwood RFC continued their perfect start to the campaign in Division 2 East with a 40-10 win at home to Cwmbran – and are sitting top of the table with five wins from their first five games.

However, Abercarn suffered a 25-24 defeat at home to Caldicot and stay in eighth spot, while Risca‘s wait for a first league win of the season goes on after a 52-20 defeat at Croesyceiliog.

Over in Division 2 East Central, league leaders Caerphilly‘s unblemished record continues after beating Cowbridge 36-29 at Virginia Park.

Dropping down to Division 3 East, Fleur de Lys also maintained their 100% start to the season with a crushing 64-7 win at home to struggling Abertysswg Falcons.

In second are Rhymney, who beat Chepstow 28-20 on the road, while fifth-place Machen drew 26-26 with Nantyglo.

Meanwhile, Oakdale stay bottom of the table following a 24-14 loss at home to Newport Saracens – their fifth defeat in their first five league games.

There was disappointment all around in Division 4 East, with hosts Bedwellty losing 19-12 to league leaders RTB Ebbw Vale, while Pontllanfraith remain winless following a 33-7 defeat to Whiteheads.

Crumlin‘s home clash with Bettws was posptoned.

But it was a different story in Division 5 East, as unbeaten Deri strengthened their grip at the top of the table with a 48-5 win at home to Blackwood Stars, who drop to third.

Hafodyrynys are up to fourth following a 43-21 victory away to Beaufort, but Hollybush remain seventh after their game with Abersychan Alexanders was postponed.

In Division 6 East A, there was a first win of the season for Trinant, who crushed Brynithel 50-0.

However, Cwmcarn United‘s struggles continue, with Old Tylerian inflicting a 36-0 defeat on the league’s bottom side.

New Tredegar remain top of the tree despite not being in action over the weekend.

And finally, in League 6 East Central, Bargoed Athletic stay top with a 30-12 win at Tondu Athletic, but fourth-place Penallta Athletic slipped to a 27-21 home loss to Rumney Athletic.
