Police want to speak to two people who were in Caerphilly town centre at the time of an alleged assault, which led to a man going to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened between 1.50am and 2.15am on Sunday September 22.

It reportedly started with a verbal altercation between two men on Cardiff Road, near the HSBC bank, before escalating onto Park Lane.

One of the men is said to have punched the other, who went to hospital later that day.

Police investigating the assault would like to identify the man and woman pictured, who were in the area at the time, and may be able to help with the investigation.

Anyone who recognises these people can contact Gwent Police on 101, or through direct message on Facebook or Twitter, quoting log reference 2400318157.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
