Saturday November 23

Blackwood’s Winter Fair has been cancelled because of forecasted bad weather.

🎅 Santa Claus has lost everything he needs to make his special journey on Christmas Eve. Can you help him find the items hidden in Risca town centre?

Pick up your free activity form and map from: Risca Library; Ice Ice Baby Desserts; and Risca Pine Centre until Saturday December 7.

🏮 The Caerphilly River of Light is taking place on November 30, but before then children of all ages can make their own lanterns at free workshops being held at the Twyn Community Centre on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

🏮 Bargoed’s Music and Light Lantern Parade takes place on December 7 and families can attend St Gwladys’ Church Hall for a free lantern making workshop on Saturday November 23 and November 30 between 10am and 4pm.

🎄 Risca Town Council is holding its Christmas Light Switch-On event on Saturday 23rd November from 3.30pm to 6.30pm in Tredegar Park, (or Risca Park as it is known to most).

Jagger & Woody from Heart radio will be taking the lead, with live entertainment being provided by Matthew Scott and his band, Kelly Hastings from The Voice, The Applause Group, and choirs from local primary school children.

Free refreshments will be provided by Risca Town Council, with stalls and fairground rides adding to the fun.

🧚‍♀️ Drag Bingo with Tina Sparkle at Bedwas Workmen’s Hall at 7.30pm. Entry is £10. Book tickets here.

Sunday November 24

✂️ Love films and crafts? Newbridge Memo is holding a free Crafternoon at the Cinema between 12pm and 7.30pm. The lights will be kept on, so you can craft and enjoy a film or two. Full details here.

Tuesday November 26

🎭 Ballet Cymru presents Romeo a Juliet at Blackwood Miners’ Institute at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £13 – £15 and are available here.

Thursday November 28

🎤 Milton Jones: HA!MILTON – this is not a musical. Milton Jones is tone deaf and has no sense of rhythm, but at least he doesn’t make a song and dance about it. You might know him from Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo or Radio 4. A whole new show of daftness at Blackwood Miners’ Institute at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £33 and can be booked on the BMI website.
