Caerphilly Eco Hub and Caerphilly Uniform Exchange have come together to repurpose old pieces of school uniform, which will be sold at a Christmas fete this weekend.
Judith Eddington is a director at Caerphilly Eco Hub, and recently spent a day away from her job at Tazio, turning old and torn pieces of uniform into new items.
Speaking to Caerphilly Observer about the project, she said: “I was at the uniform exchange brainstorming ideas with [Caerphilly Eco Hub member] Lynn Gazal, and asked if they had any old stuff they weren’t going to sell anymore.
“We were told yes, and I like sewing so we decided to strip the material down and make some hair scrunchies and bows, as well as saving the buttons and zips as spares in the shop for anyone who needed them.”

Ms Eddington also made peg bags, and is thinking of ways to use other parts of the clothes, to make sure all of it gets repurposed.
She continued: “I think it’s great for your wellbeing to get out there and create like this. Hopefully it will make a difference.”
Caerphilly Uniform Exchange will be selling the items at school fetes, while Caerphilly Eco Hub have a stall at Castle Court shopping centre on Saturday December 7.
The items are also available to buy from Caerphilly Uniform Exchanges’ shop in Lansbury Park, which is open every Tuesday.
