Six swimming teachers from Caerphilly County Borough have been nominated for a national award.
The 2025 Swim Wales Awards, which recognise the achievements of individuals and swimming clubs, will be held in Cardiff on February 1.
The six teachers are up for the Aquatic Teacher Award, which honours those who go above and beyond in inspiring and teaching swimmers of all ages and abilities.
Among the nominees are Brooke Harper, Jayne Evans, Josh Fisher, Maria Owen, and Phil Bettany, as well as 2024’s Swim Teacher of the Year award winner Ellie Welsh.
In total, more than 100 swimming instructors from across Wales were considered for the award. The selection process will now narrow the field down to two finalists, with the winner announced at the awards ceremony.
In a statement, Caerphilly County Borough Council congratulated the nominees on their “well-deserved recognition” and said: “Their hard work and dedication have not only elevated the standards of aquatic teaching but have also inspired countless individuals to dive into the world of swimming.
“We wish our nominees the very best of luck in the next stage of the competition. Regardless of the outcome, they have already made a huge splash in their field, and we couldn’t be prouder.”
