Christmas panto, craft workshops, and music. What’s on this weekend and beyond

😔 This weekend’s Bargoed Winter Food and Craft Fair has been cancelled following a Met Office weather warning.

The event was due to be held on Saturday December 7. However, Storm Darragh is forecast to hit this weekend, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall to much of Wales.

The Christmas Fair at Llancaiach Fawr has also been cancelled.

Friday December 6

💷 Owen Money’s annual Christmas panto starts at Blackwood Miners Institute and runs until Monday December 30. This year it is Beauty and the Beast. For ticket prices and to book visit the BMI website.

🧚‍♀️ The Rubber Chicken Players are returning for their 2024 pantomime at Newbridge Memo and this year it’s… Alice – Down the Rabbit Hole. Running on December 6, 7 at 7pm with an additional afternoon performance on Saturday 7 at 1pm. Ticket prices vary. More information and to book.

🎄 Complete a Christmas quest at Caerphilly Castle this December, with a trail on every weekend and prizes to be won. Activity is free, but admission prices to the castle apply.

Saturday December 7

🎅 Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall is hosting a Santa’s Grotto. Tickets are £5.50 – book online. 11am to 3.30pm.

Sunday December 8

🎅 Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall is again hosting a Santa’s Grotto – but this time for dogs! Tickets are £5.50 – book online. 11am to 3.30pm.

Santa’ Grotto will also be at Graig y Rhacca Community Centre, as part of a Christmas fair between 12pm and 5pm. Tickets are £3.50. A quiet hour for children with additional learning needs will be held between 10.45am and 11.45am.

Libanus Lifestyle in Blackwood is hosting a Christmas Craft Workshop between 11am and 1pm. Entry is £18 per child.

Monday December 9

🎵 Are you interested in music? Have you always wanted to play an instrument? Do you like listening to music and want to meet like minded people? Have you ever wanted to write your own song?

RockRec is working with Caerphilly Miners Centre for the Community to deliver a series of music taster sessions on Mondays at 10.30am. Please contact dan@recrock.co.uk for more info.

🎅 A Christmas event including refreshments, a raffle, pub quiz, and singing will be held at Rudry Parish Hall from 1.30pm, with £5 entry.

Tuesday December 10

🕺 A Festive Christmas Party with Ricky Elvis is at Libanus Lifestyle in Blackwood. £20 for an afternoon of entertainment and a two-course meal.

🎼 Join local community choir ‘Side by Side’ with their festive concert at Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall. Mince pies and refreshments available – raffle – family friendly festive event at this lovely old theatre. 6.30pm. Tickets are £5.50 – book online.

Wednesday December 11

⛄️ Make your own Christmas Centrepiece at Newbridge Memo. 6.30pm – 8.30pm. Entry is £25 per person. Get in touch with Kelly from Follow Fleurs Forever to book: Call 07508963042 or email kg@followfleursforever.com

🎼 Aber Valley Male Voice Choir are performing carols at the Masons Arms, Mill Road, Caerphilly at 7.15pm. Free to attend.
