The wellbeing room has been nicknamed ‘The Back Room’

Virginia Park Youth Centre in Caerphilly has opened a dedicated space to give young people opportunities to improve their overall wellbeing.

The wellbeing room, nicknamed ‘The Back Room’ by those who use the youth centre, provides a safe space for young people, with a focus on mindful colours, and comfy furniture.

The room can also be used by staff for wellbeing breaks.

Virginia Park Youth Centre is the main hub for youth support and activities in the south of the borough, according to the council, providing services to all young people aged 11 to 25.

The centre offers youth club-type activities, including Welsh youth club, part time clubs, Duke of Edinburgh, LGBTQ groups, outreach and detached work, targeted work, holiday provision, and community work.

The centre is also open for access to free period products, C Card resources and as a water refill station.

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, deputy leader at the council, said: “It’s fantastic to open the wellbeing room as a designated quiet and calm space for young people to use at the Virginia Park Youth Centre.

“I know the space will be well used by young people to recharge and improve their wellbeing and I hope it will be beneficial for many years to come.”
