Plans have been submitted for a new affordable housing project in Pontywaun.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has applied for planning permission to redevelop the Castle Court sheltered housing complex, on Silver Street.

The facility is “currently occupied by the Castle Court Housing Association but the building and site are vacant”, according to the council’s planning documents.

The local authority has proposed redeveloping the site and building 16 residential units, which it would class as “social rented affordable housing”.

The project, if approved, will comprise eight one-bedroom, four two-bedroom and four three-bedroom apartments.

The application is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 24/0875/LA.
