More than 30 families in the Bargoed area have received festive hampers this Christmas thanks to the efforts of Heolddu Comprehensive School.
As part of its annual Christmas Hamper Appeal, the school worked with local business, community groups, and members of the public to put 30 hampers together in an effort to combat food poverty.
Miss Probert, the school’s community lead, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming generosity shown. She said: “The kindness we’ve experienced has been truly phenomenal.
“It’s inspiring to see how our community has come together to support one another. A particular thanks to Bargoed Masons, Caerphilly North NPT, Citizens Advice, Caerphilly Cares, Morrisons, Gilfach and Park Primary and the students, parents, and governors of Heolddu.”
Encouraged by this year’s success, Miss Probert is already planning the next phase of community support. Her vision for the New Year is to see the establishment of a community pantry.
This pantry would operate on a “pay what you can afford” basis, providing families and individuals with access to food and toiletry essentials during tough times.
Miss Probert is calling on local businesses, organisations, and individuals to lend their support. Donations of food, toiletries, or financial assistance will be critical to launching and sustaining this initiative.
If you or your organisation would like to be part of this, please reach out to Miss Probert directly. You can contact her by calling Heolddu Comprehensive School on 01443 875531 or emailing fprobert@heolddu.org
