WRU Premiership and National Championship East clubs played on Saturday December 21

On the last weekend before Christmas, rugby clubs from across Caerphilly County Borough were looking for some early festive cheer as teams battled it out on a cold, windy afternoon.

Fixtures were played in the WRU Premiership and the National Championship East, but sides in the leagues below did not play over the weekend.

In the WRU Premiership, Cross Keys moved up to fourth with a 32-19 win away to Cardiff Met, while Bargoed got the better of Newbridge in all-Caerphilly affair, winning 26-14 at Bargoed Park.

That result sees the Bulls climb up to fifth in the table, while Newbridge drop to ninth.

Down in the National Championship East, Bedwas sit top at Christmas, having beaten Beddau 28-13 at the Bridgefield.

In second place are Penallta, who beat Ynysddu 36-12 away from home on the weekend – pushing Ynysddu down into eighth place.
