Llanbradach’s Rhys Griffin has been knocked out of the World Darts Championship following a second round defeat to Josh Rock.

World number 122 Griffin was beaten in three straight sets by the Northern Irishman, who went into the match-up on Monday December 23 ranked 18th in the world.

Griffin, 27, competing at his first-ever world championships, reached the second round after an impressive 3-0 win over world number 68 Karel Sedlacek on Saturday December 21.

Elsewhere in the competition, Carmarthenshire’s Jonny Clayton has reached the third round after a dramatic sudden death win over Mickey Mansell.

Clayton will be joined in round three by Markham’s Gerwyn Price, who will meet Joe Cullen after Christmas.

If both Price and Clayton win their next matches, they will face each other in the fourth round.
