Work has begun on the new 3G surface

Work on St Cenydd Leisure Centre’s new £1million 3G pitch has begun thanks to government grant funding.

The project will be funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, and when open, will be available for both the school and the wider community.

Councillor Chris Morgan, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure, said: “We are proud to deliver this much-anticipated development for St Cenydd and the wider community. As a joint-use facility, the new 3G pitch will provide a modern, inclusive space for school activities, sports clubs and residents.

“Funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, this project demonstrates our commitment to investing in facilities that support, health, wellbeing and community development.”

Meanwhile, the upgraded 3G pitch and floodlight system at Abercarn Primary School was completed earlier this month, while work has begun on a new £1m 3G pitch at Risca Leisure Centre.
