Welsh rugby legend Shane Williams has helped open Islwyn High School’s brand new gym as part of a fundraising community evening.

Wales’ all-time leading try scorer was said to be impressed with the school’s new facility during a visit on Tuesday February 11, where he sat down and told sporting stories and answered questions from an audience.

As well as opening the gym, Shane helped raise more than £2,000 on the night through ticket sales, all of which will be going back into the school.

The gym is said to be for both pupils and staff, with health and wellbeing a key factor in the investment.
