Blackwood Spring Fair returned for a third time
Blackwood Spring Fair returned for a third time

Six-thousand visitors came to Blackwood earlier this month as the town hosted its annual spring fair.

The event, which was organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council, was held on Saturday March 8 – the busiest day in the town so far this year.

A range of entertainment was on offer, including food and craft fairs and funfair rides, as well as animal displays, crazy golf and more.

It was the first in a number of events set to be held in the town centre over the course of 2025, with Blackwood Beach Party and a Christmas market being held later in the year.

Sgt Liam Brown, of Gwent Police, praised the spring fair and said: “It was a real privilege for the team to play a part in the successful return of the fair, which gave us opportunities to listen to the public about their concerns, reassure them about the work we’re doing, and also celebrate the great community spirit the town has – which was fully on show on Saturday.”

Yvonne Murphy, of The Talking Shop, said: “We were delighted to welcome lots of visitors of all ages and had a busy day filled with creativity, conversation, information and democratic deliberation. Thank you to all our visitors.”

Blackwood councillor Kevin Etheridge was also positive, describing the fair as a “major success”.

The event was first held in Blackwood in 2023, drawing 8,000 visitors to the town, before returning in 2024 – attracting 7,000 visitors.
