Aber Valley YMCA has benefited from a £18,500 National Lottery grant to replace the floor in its hall, which it says will be “massive” for the community.
Paul Mitchell, secretary at the YMCA, said how tough it’s been in recent months, with the hall having to cover holes in the floor with plywood sheets in order to host dance, karate, and youth clubs.
Speaking to Caerphilly Observer, Mr Mitchell said: “It’s massive for us. I applied to the National Lottery in March and within weeks they responded confirming they’d fully fund the replacement of the floor.
“We contacted a flooring company and within two weeks the job was done. The new floor looks wonderful and will mean we can now offer this much improved facility to our members, and the local community.”
Mr Mitchell added how the new floor will allow them to increase activities inside, with sports, social events, birthdays, and anniversary parties planned.
