Ffiliffest returns on Saturday June 7

Caerphilly’s annual celebration of the Welsh language and culture will be back in town this weekend – promising a “vibrant day of entertainment and activities for all ages”.

Ffiliffest will be held between 11am and 7pm on Saturday June 7, and takes place on Owain Glyndwr Playing Fields, Crescent Road.

The free-to-enter festival will include live music, traditional Welsh folk dancing, arts and crafts workshops, and food and drink stalls – as well as the chance to buy produce from local businesses.

Meanwhile, hundreds of local school children have been preparing and practising traditional Welsh folk dancing to perform on the day.

Ffiliffest is being organised by Menter Caerffili, which is a charity aiming to promote and increase the use of the Welsh language on a community level within Caerphilly County Borough.

Ffiliffest returns on Saturday June 7

Menter Caerffili has worked closely with Caerphilly County Borough Council, community groups and performers to plan the event – which is unique to the area.

Kira Bissex, of Menter Caerffili, said Ffiliffest welcomes “people of all ages to enjoy the Welsh language and culture in a fantastic setting”.

She continued: “This event provides opportunities for people to enjoy an amazing programme of performances, lots of activities for children, a food area and information from local organisations. We are really excited to see this event grow year-by-year.

“We are extremely grateful to our main sponsors, Welsh Government, Caerphilly Town Council, Arts Council for Wales, and Caerphilly County Borough Council.

“Whether you’re a fluent Welsh speaker or new to the language, Ffiliffest offers a welcoming environment to experience the richness of Welsh culture.”
