Bargoed’s Summer Music Festival drew nearly 3,000 visitors to the town when it returned for a second year earlier this month.

The event, which debuted in 2024, was held again on Saturday July 12, beating last year’s attendance figures.

The festival saw multiple performance areas set up in the town centre, with an array of different musicians performing on the day.

There were also several busking were throughout the town centre, linking in with venues like The Square Royale, Murray’s, Emporium Snooker Club and Bourton’s Live Music Café Bar.

Meanwhile, the town hosted numerous food, drink and craft stalls for the event, including Crafty Legs’ Craft Fair and Market – as well as funfair rides.

The number of visitors in the town on the day was almost 2,000 more than the previous Saturday, and several hundred more than last year’s inaugural festival.

More than 2,100 visitors attend Bargoed’s first ever summer music festival

Speaking about the event, a spokesperson from Bargoed Library said: “A great day was had by all, and we saw a big increase in footfall.

“The sensory spaces were well-used, and people took advantage of our cool space, given the scorching hot weather. Visitors also joined in with our Summer Reading Challenge too.”

Meanwhile, a representative from Emporium Snooker Club said it was the “busiest day we’ve had in a while”.

They continued: “Our music space was great, and all the bands were well-supported by spectators. It was great to see people in town and the event has grown since last year.”

Judith Voyle, from Barnardo’s – “These events are desperately needed here in Bargoed to give shops a boost in trade and encourage people into town. Thank you to all those who helped organise this event.”

Bargoed Summer Music Festival is funded by Bargoed Town Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
