A new summer fitness scheme for teenagers, led by Gwent Police, is being held in Ystrad Mynach over the school holidays.
As part of its ‘Respect Rhymney’ initiative, police officers have teamed-up with staff at Evolution Fitness, on Dyffryn Business Park, to run the events.
The Hyrox Race for Success programme begins on Wednesday July 23, and will run between 11am and 1pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday over the next six weeks.
The scheme, for teenagers aged between 14 and 17, aims to promote positive physical and mental wellbeing, as well as skill development and social cohesion.
PC Stuart Turley, who’s part of Gwent Police’s Caerphilly north neighbourhood team, said: “We’re pleased to bring this initiative to teens in the area, giving them the chance to learn a bit more about the world of Hyrox racing and, in particular, making healthier decisions with nutrition and exercise.
“The initiative is particularly timely as well with the recent sold-out Hyrox event at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, and offers structured coaching from personal trainers, free gym access, tailored fitness plans and mentorship around a range of topics including mental health, first aid, further education opportunities and more.”
Anyone interested in taking part can contact Evolution Fitness on 01443 315260 for more details.
