A £5m programme of roadworks has begun across Caerphilly County Borough

A £5 million programme of road resurfacing works across Caerphilly County Borough has begun.

Caerphilly County Borough Council said the work, at more than 50 locations is expected to continue through to the end of September, subject to weather conditions.

Some of the roads will have a Finagrip surface dressing treatment – where a layer of chippings and tar are laid down – while others will have a portion of the existing road surface replaced, usually with asphalt.

Councillor Nigel George, cabinet member for corporate services and highways said: “Maintaining and investing in our road network is a top priority, and this programme clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to improving the condition and safety of our highways.

“These works will extend the life of our roads, improve driving comfort, and reduce the need for more disruptive and costly repairs down the line.”

The council wants to remind residents to move vehicles from affected roads ahead of scheduled works to avoid delays to the work.
