Repair works on a footbridge near a school will be completed later than originally planned.
Caerphilly County Borough Council engineers have been doing maintenance work on the footbridge over the Rhymney river, to the north of Idris Davies School, near Abertysswg.
The work was originally expected to be finished before the end of the school summer holidays, to minimise disruption for pupils walking to school.
However, previously unseen defects were identified in the bridge during the works. It meant additional steel sections have had to be replaced, delaying the final completion.
The council said the work is now expected to be finished on or before Friday September 19.
In a statement, the council said: “We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we carry out these essential safety improvements.”
