A series of rolling road closures will be in place while the Tour of Britain passes through Caerphilly County Borough.

The race, which will see the biggest names in cycling competing, comes to the borough on Sunday September 7 for its sixth and final stage.

The annual cycling event last passed through the borough in 2023, when Caerphilly town centre hosted the stage finale.

This year’s final stage starts in Newport and finishes at Bute Park in Cardiff, where hometown hero Geraint Thomas will be making his final road race appearance.

The cyclists are expected to pass through the following areas at these times:

  • Newport (Geraint Thomas National Velodrome): 11.45am
  • Pontymister: 12.06pm
  • Wattsville: 12.14pm
  • Blackwood: 12.26pm
  • Crumlin: 12.37pm
  • Markham: 13.14pm
  • Rhymney: 13.32pm

The rolling road closure will move with the race convoy, with the intention of minimising the disruption that residents will experience during the race.
