Markham Darts Academy has been celebrating the recent successes of its members.
The club was set up in 2020 by darts star Gerwyn Price, who is from Markham, and his long-time friend and mentor John Mullen.
The academy officially opened in September 2021 following the Covid pandemic, with aims of nurturing the next Gerwyn Prices.
Now, the club’s members are enjoying successes in a variety of competitions and events.
These include Callum Smith and Rhylee Mansfield, who won the Welsh Darts Organisation (WDO) Young Dragons Pairs competition, while Lucas Milligan won the WDO Young Dragons Welsh Champion of Champions singles competition.
There was more even more success for those three. Due to their performances in inter-county matches, they were all selected for the WDO Young Dragons South Wales regional team, alongside academy captain Jenson Ellaway.
Together, they won the regional team Champions Cup after a convincing victory over a strong Mid and North Wales team.

Ellaway, who is the academy captain, also represented the Welsh Under-18s youth team at this year’s British Internationals, as well as in the European Cup.
He got through the regional championship singles qualifiers and reached the final, where he delivered a strong performance to win the match and become the WDO regional national singles champion.
It earned him a nomination from the WDO to represent Wales in the the World Darts Federation World Youth Masters competition.
But the club’s successes don’t stop there. Members Connie Evans and Mary Grace Enos finished runners-up in the Young Dragons girls pairs competition, while Star Enos came second in the prestigious WDO Youth Masters girls singles competition.
It has earned her the chance to qualify and represent Wales at the World Darts Federation World Youth Masters, alongside Ellaway. The competition is being held in Budapest, Hungary, between October 29 and November 2.
