Eleven borough businesses nominated for Food Awards Wales 2025

A host of Caerphilly food businesses have been named finalists at the Food Awards Wales 2025.

The awards, organised by Oceanic Events, take place at a ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in Cardiff on October 6.

Caerphilly finalists include:

  • Sam’s Grill House (Abertridwr) – Takeaway of the Year;
  • Ship Deck (Trethomas) – Best Fish N’ Chips Establishment;
  • Fish Kitchen 1854 (Maesycwmmer) – Best Fish N’ Chips Establishment;
  • Castle Gate (Caerphilly) – Best Indian Establishment;
  • Volare Italian Restaurant (Caerphilly) – Best Italian Establishment;
  • Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar (Caerphilly) – Burger Bar of the Year;
  • The Deli Delicatessen & Coffee Shop (Caerphilly) – Deli of the Year;
  • Basil & Rusty (Machen) – Dessert Outlet of the Year;
  • Bistro 8 (Blackwood) – Best Bistro/Diner;
  • Hancox’s Pies (Caerphilly) – Artisan Bakery of the Year;
  • Scholars Restaurant – Coleg y Cymoedd (Ystrad Mynach) – Cookery School of the Year.

Last year’s awards saw Castle Gate win Takeaway of the Year, while Hancox’s Pies won Retail Bakery of the Year.
