The newly refurbished Cefn Fforest Miners’ Institute will welcome audiences for its first public show later this month – a community pantomime of Cinderella performed by Cefn Fforest Pantomime.

The production will run on October 28, 29 and 30 at 7pm, and on November 1 at 2pm and 7pm.

Tickets are £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for children and concessions, available online.

The group behind efforts to revive Cefn Fforest ‘Stute has received support from the National Lottery, Caerphilly Council’s Empowerment Fund, and Pobl Group, which has helped transform the historic building with modern lighting and sound systems, and new velvet stage curtains and costumes.

Organisers say the show embodies true community spirit, promising “fun-filled entertainment for all generations to enjoy.”

The Cefn Fforest Miners’ Institute reopened earlier this year following a major refurbishment, marking a new chapter for the venue which was originally built in 1932 and funded by local miners’ wages.

The Institute was once a thriving social and educational hub, offering everything from a library and sports clubs to dances and local events. After decades of decline, its rebirth has restored a sense of pride and purpose to the village.

Now, as the lights go up for Cinderella, the building’s stage will once again become a focal point for local life.
