Voters went to the polls in the Penyrheol, Trecenydd, and Energlyn council ward

Polls are now closed in the Penyrheol, Trecenydd, and Energlyn council by-election.

Residents have been voting to elect a new councillor to represent the area on Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The by-election comes after Lindsay Whittle was elected to the Senedd in October’s Caerphilly by-election – forcing him to step down from his role as a county councillor.

The candidates standing in the council by-election are:

  • James Bevan – Reform UK
  • Brandon Gorman – Welsh Conservatives
  • Mary Lloyd – Welsh Liberal Democrats
  • Aneurin Minton – Plaid Cymru
  • Keiran Russell – Welsh Labour

Polls opened at 7am on Thursday December 11, and shut at 10pm.
