More than 300 runners took part in the inaugural Penallta Pony Run held at Parc Penallta on Sunday April 12.
The 8km race was organised by Caerphilly Runners and attracted 307 entries for the course around the park, which takes in landmarks including the Sultan the pit pony sculpture and the observatory.
Club chair Simon Roberts said the event was created to mark the club’s tenth anniversary and to add another challenging race to the local running calendar.
He said: “To mark our ten-year anniversary as a club we wanted to showcase our club and provide another local and challenging race.
“Our aim is to stage this 8km race every year in the lead up to the Caerphilly 10K, giving runners from near and far a stepping-stone race to build up from 5km and take themselves up a level.”

Tom McCarthy, of Pontypridd Roadents, was the first male finisher, completing the course in 27 minutes and two seconds.
The first female finisher was Yasmin Hadid, of Cardiff University, who finished in 32 minutes and 22 seconds.
Organisers thanked runners, volunteers, marshals and spectators for supporting the event.
