Llechwen Hall near Nelson

Llechwen Hall Hotel has secured a £2.3 million commercial mortgage from Barclays Business Bank to support refurbishment works and future growth at the venue near Nelson.

The independently-owned hotel plans to use the funding to invest in key improvements across the property, including upgrades to its water system and the refurbishment of guest bedrooms and bathrooms.

The investment marks the next stage of development for the hotel, which has grown over the past two decades. Originally a 20-bedroom property, Llechwen Hall has expanded to a 44-bedroom venue and has become a popular destination for leisure stays, corporate events and weddings.

The hotel now hosts up to 150 weddings a year and employs more than 100 staff.

Hotel director Ramish Gor said the funding would allow the business to continue improving the experience for guests while maintaining the standards it has built its reputation on.

He said: “Over the past 20 years we’ve grown the business steadily from a 20-bedroom hotel into the 44-bedroom venue that we are proud to operate today.

“This support from Barclays allows us to continue along our growth journey, first by refurbishing our bedrooms and bathrooms, which will make a real difference to guests from the moment they walk through the door.”

Joanna Stark, relationship director at Barclays Business Bank, said the hotel had built a strong reputation and played an important role in the local economy.

She said: “Llechwen Hall Hotel is a great example of a well-run independent hospitality business that has grown consistently over time, continues to invest in its offering and provides tremendous benefit to its surrounding economy through job creation and economic stimulus.”

The funding will support a programme of targeted capital investment aimed at strengthening the hotel’s long-term position in a challenging hospitality market, where businesses have faced rising costs and wider economic pressures.
