The swimming pool at Newbridge Leisure Centre will be closed for a month while improvement works are carried out.

The closure will allow engineers to address ongoing issues with the pool’s heating system, while a number of planned maintenance and upgrade projects are brought forward.

Works will include repairs and upgrades to pool tiling, the replacement of the heat exchanger, and the installation of new boilers.

Caerphilly County Borough Council said the pool is expected to reopen to the public on July 17.

To accommodate residents during the closure, Cefn Fforest Leisure Centre will extend its opening hours from June 18.

Fresh concerns over reduced hours at leisure centre

The council will also convert the former weights room at Cefn Fforest into accessible changing rooms due to increased demand while Newbridge’s pool is shut.

Cllr Chris Morgan, the council’s cabinet member for sport and leisure, said: “These essential works will improve the long-term reliability and efficiency of the pool while also allowing us to enhance accessibility within the facility.

“We appreciate customers’ patience during the closure and look forward to welcoming them back once the improvements are complete.”
