Fire crews are tackling a wildfire in Senghenydd, with residents advised to keep windows and doors closed.
The fire was first reported at around 7pm on Sunday August 9, near Caerphilly Road.
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said it was “currently responding to an ongoing Category 2 [moderate] wildfire in the Senghenydd area involving fern and moorland”.
The spokesperson continued: “A number of crews and officers, supported by specialist equipment are in attendance.
“If anyone is impacted by smoke, they are advised to keep windows and doors closed and follow public health advice.”

In a joint statement, Plaid Cymru Senedd Members Delyth Jewell, Lindsay Whittle, and Niamh Salkeld thanked emergency service workers tackling the blaze, along with the Llangynidr Reservoir fire in Ebbw Vale.
The Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni representatives added: “This summer we have experienced heatwaves, drought, and wildfires.
“These regular wildfires show the real time cost of the climate crisis ripping through our communities.”
