New Tesco Express store opens inside former Methodist Church

A new Tesco Express store has finally opened its doors in Newbridge, inside the former Methodist Church on Bridge Street.

The shop opened to customers on Thursday August 27, with 12 new jobs created.

Store managers Kelly Wickham and Jenny Morgan said: “Alongside our team, we are proud to welcome you and look forward to serving our neighbours from day one. We are not just opening a store, we’re excited to become part of the Newbridge community.

“We’re delighted to bring a modern and convenient Tesco Express to the area, offering customers a wide range of fresh produce, meal solutions, bakery items, and everyday essentials.

“We’re pleased to have created 12 new jobs, with the majority of our colleagues hired locally, helping us build strong connections with the community.”

The store has a ‘living garden’ on its roof, hosting bird and bat boxes to boost biodiversity. It also has reclaimation tanks under the car park to collect rainwater to water the store’s plants and fill toilet tanks.

The store will also be part of the Tesco Community Food Connection scheme, redistributing surplus food to local charities and community groups.
