Caerphilly MP Wayne David invites Lib Dem rival to join Labour

Caerphilly MP Wayne David.

Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly, has written to his Liberal Democrat General Election opponent to join Labour.

He has written to Mrs Kay David (no relation) to leave the Liberal Democratic Party and to join instead the Labour Party.

Mr Davis told her that although the two had disagreements during the course of the General Election campaign, he nevertheless believes that she is someone who cares “about fairness”.

He also said that he is sure that Kay David would be “extremely concerned” about the actions of the Conservative-led Government to increase VAT, treble the cap on student fees in England, scrap the Defence Training College at St Athan, delay the electrification of the South Wales to Paddington railway line and introduce measures to undermine the NHS in England.

Mr David said that his letter to Mrs David was absolutely genuine and added that he “sincerely hoped” that Kay David would join Labour as Labour is now the only progressive Party in British politics.

Isn't Wayne David the MP who was involved in the expenses scandal and had to repay over £14,000 worth of expenses claimed from the House of Commons? The same man who whose party ran the UK for 13 years, engaged in an illegal war, misspent the public purse, let the bankers run amok, then had to bail them out and in the process almost bankrupt the country?? That’s the policies of a "progressive" party?! No wonder no-one takes Labour seriously anymore!

Ask Kay to join you? Do you not believe her principles are strong enough on their own? Do you believe yourself so superior to the Liberal Democrats that this is even remotely feasible?

Considering our MPs questionable reputation, you'd think he would have a better idea of his pulling power.
