Supermarket giant Tesco is bidding to build a new petrol station next to its Crossways branch in Caerphilly.
The company has submitted a planning application to Caerphilly County Borough Council for permission to build the station and a kiosk.
Earlier this month, the nearby McDonald’s restaurant looked set to have an application for 24 hour opening approved by councillors.
Despite the application being recommended for approval by council officers, planning councillors deferred the decision pending a visit to the Crossways branch.
McDonald’s has also applied for permission to build a new drive-through lane, two new customer order display units and to reconfigure its car park to create three new parking spaces.
