Remembrance Day services in Caerphilly County Borough

PoppyCrossPeople across the county borough are getting ready to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in military conflict.

Councillor John Evans, Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough, his deputy and other senior members from the council will be representing the council at a number of parades and services.

Below are some of the events taking place this weekend and Armistice Day on November 11.

  • Saturday November 7, 10.45am – Laying of wreaths at the War Memorial, Rudry.
  • Saturday November 7, 1.30pm – Laying of wreaths at the council offices in Pontllanfraith followed by service at St Augustine’s Church.
  • Sunday November 8, 9.30 am – Service at St James Church, Rudry followed by laying of wreaths at the War Memorial, Rudry.
  • Sunday November 8, 10.45am – Service at St John’s Church, Machen followed by laying of wreaths at the War Memorial.
  • Sunday November 8, 11am – Service and laying of wreaths at Blackwood War Memorial, Pentwyn Road.
  • Sunday November 8 , 10.40am – Parade from Post Office, Oakdale followed by Service and laying of wreaths at Oakdale memorial at 11am.
  • Sunday November 8, 12.30pm – Laying of wreaths at Maesycwmmer Community Garden, The Crescent.
  • Sunday November 8, 2.15pm.- Parade from St Martin’s Church, Caerphilly followed by Service and laying of wreaths at Caerphilly War Memorial, The Twyn at 3pm.
  • Wednesday November 11, 11am – Armistice Day Service at Blackwood Market Place.
